November 13, 2025Wicklow Sports & Recreation Partnership, in collaboration with Wicklow County Council, is now inviting applications for two exciting roles that support our mission of increasing participation in sport, recreation, and physical activity across the county.

• Strategic Promotions Officer (Grade V)
• Community Sports Development Officer (Grade IV)

Strategic Promotions Officer (Grade V)
Salary € 51,722 – €61,865 per annum includes 2nd LSI E.L. 07/2025
The Strategic Promotions Officer plays a key role in shaping how the public engages with sport and physical activity through Active Wicklow. This position is ideal for a creative and strategic communicator who is passionate about promoting healthier lifestyles in our communities.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Developing and delivering multi-media marketing campaigns to promote local sports and physical activity programmes

Creating engaging, high-quality content for web, digital, and social media platforms

Supporting and promoting national sports initiatives locally

Acting as Wicklow’s primary point of contact for major national campaigns including HER Outdoors Week, European Week of Sport, and National Bike Week
This is a dynamic role for someone who thrives on creativity, collaboration, and impact-driven communication.

Community Sports Development Officer (Grade IV)
Salary € 35,613 – €54,911 per annum includes 2nd LSI E.L. 07/2025
Funded by Sport Ireland, the Community Sports Development Officer supports Local Sports Partnerships to enhance and expand participation pathways, with a strong focus on sustainable, community-led programmes aligned with the National Physical Activity Plan (Action 46).
Core Objectives of the Role:

Increasing Participation:
Develop innovative and inclusive opportunities that encourage people who are sedentary or currently inactive to get involved in sport and physical activity. -
Building Capacity:
Support smaller National Governing Bodies (NGBs), community groups, and partner organisations—particularly those without dedicated development officers—to deliver meaningful participation opportunities. -
Developing Local Leadership:
Foster, train, and support local leaders and volunteers to ensure long-term, sustainable delivery of sports programmes within communities.
