Special Olympics Civic Reception 2019

In March of this year, 91 athletes competed with Team Ireland at the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. They returned to a heroes welcome with an outstanding 86 medals (30 Gold, 29 Silver and 27 Bronze) along with 46 placed finishes and many personal bests. Wicklow was represented by local athletes Aisling Beacom and Rukki Atiyota from the Blue Dolphins Special Olympics Club in Wicklow Town and Padraig Reilly from KARE Blessington. Bikeweek 2019

Bike Week 22nd – 30th June 2019   Wicklow Local Sports Partnership received funding from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for Bike Week. Applications were invited to apply for grants to those hosting a bike event.  19 schools participated and benefited from Bike Week funding which promoted cycle safety, skills and maintenance along with 7 community events were also supported by Wicklow LSP these included; Wicklow Mountain Bike Club Over 70 people took part in this mountain bike event to launch a new MTB club in Wicklow. Gaelic 4 Teens

Gaelic 4 Teens Launches in Wicklow The Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) in conjunction with Wicklow Sports Partnership launched the Gaelic 4 Teens Wicklow programme in Baltinglass on Wednesday 28th of March.  Four successful clubs in Bray Emmets, St. Pats Rathnew, Baltinglass and Tinahely will take part in this exciting programme over the course of 2018.  The programme is targeted at stopping the dropout of teenage girls from gaelic football with coach education and player welfare and retention to the fore.  William Harmonn, National Ladies gaelic football development officer and Cliodhna O’Connor Ladies gaelic football tutor, and former Dublin LGFA […]
