Amber Barrett Kicks Off the 2025 Volunteers in Sport Awards with the Federation of Irish Sport
November 13, 2025Wicklow County Council and Wicklow Sports & Recreation Partnership have opened the application process for the Third level Katie Taylor bursary award for 2025/26.
The Katie Taylor Bursary, funded by Wicklow County Council, is a third level award to support students who excel at sport to complete their college education. The award of €1,500 per year of college, to a maximum of four years is open to students who live in Wicklow that are now in their first year of third level education, studying Level 7 or 8. Students are not required to study a sports related course, but will need to demonstrate their involvement, commitment, and achievements in sport.
Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Councillor Melanie Corrigan said ‘This bursary outlines the commitment of Wicklow County Council to support our young athletes to achieve their potential’.
Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Emer O’Gorman, commended the high-quality athletes who have been past recipients of the award and encouraged young athletes in Wicklow to apply for the 2025/26 bursary.
