Wicklow Sports & Recreation Partnership announces successful recipients of 2025 Disability Sports Club Grants

Wicklow Sports and Recreation Partnership is pleased to announce the successful applicants for the Disability Sports Club Grants 2025. This grant scheme aims to support clubs throughout County Wicklow in making their activities more inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities.

Clubs were invited to apply for funding of up to €1,000 under three key categories:

• Disability Support for Education and Training
• Programme Activation and Delivery
• Small Scale Equipment for Inclusive Programmes

After a competitive application process, Wicklow Sports and Recreation Partnership are happy to award funding to various clubs across the county.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Melanie Corrigan, commented on the announcement: “We’re proud to support these clubs as they take significant steps towards making physical activity more inclusive. It’s encouraging to see the commitment across Wicklow to breaking down barriers and creating welcoming environments for people with disabilities.”

Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council Emer O’Gorman, added: “Wicklow County Council is committed to supporting inclusive and accessible opportunities for all. Sport and physical activity play an important role in building stronger, more connected communities and these grants are a valuable step in ensuring everyone has the chance to participate.”

Aisling Hubbard, Coordinator of Wicklow Sports and Recreation Partnership, stated: “These grants reflect our ongoing commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can take part and feel connected in their local community. Congratulations to all the clubs that have taken proactive steps towards greater inclusion.”

The funding will support a variety of initiatives, including inclusive coaching workshops, the delivery of accessible programs and the purchase of adapted equipment to meet participants’ needs.
