As autumn breezes in, we are so excited to share with you the events and programmes we have planned for Arklow this September!
Why do we run so many events in Arklow?
In May 2021, Wicklow Sports & Recreation Partnership launched the Arklow Sports Hub at Coral Leisure Centre in Arklow. The Hub has become a centre for recreation and physical activity in the area. The launch of the Arklow Hub was part of an investment over €150,000 supported by Sport Ireland as part of their Community Sports Hub initiative and funded through dormant accounts in 2021. This investment was given to Wicklow Sports & Recreation Partnership to develop physical activity equipment, programmes and training and education in the Arklow area within a five-year period.

Club Promotion Evening at Coral Leisure Arklow
Date: Friday 1st September
Time: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Target audience: Adults and families (kids aged 8 plus)
We are hosting a club’s promotion evening for clubs and activities that use the main indoor sports hall at Coral Leisure Arklow. Everyone from the local community is invited to come along and try out the different sports on offer.
Attendees will have the chance to explore a diverse range of sports and activities, all free of charge. The event will showcase an array of engaging options including badminton, pickleball, baton twirling, dance, spinning and pilates taster sessions.
4 Week Junior Pickleball at Coral Leisure Arklow
Date: Every Wednesday starting September 6th
Time :
8 to 11 years old: 4pm to 4.45pm
12 to 16 years old: 4.45pm to 5.30pm
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. It is played on a indoor badminton court with a net. The participants use batts and plastic balls ( all supplied) Please wear comfortable clothing and runners
During the 4 week programme participants will learn all the shots of pickleball- forehand, backhand, serve and volley. They will learn how to keep the score and practise playing some matches.
This programme is a great way to try out a new sport and meet new friends
6 Week Adult Badminton Coaching at Coral Leisure Arklow
A 6 week Adult Badminton Coaching programme led by Badminton Ireland ooach Georgina Ward.
Dates: Every Wednesday starting September 6th (it is not on *4th october)
Time: 8PM
Target Audience: Adults aged 18+
Price: €20 for 6 Weeks
The coaching sessions are designed specifically for adults who want to enhance their badminton skills, whether you’re a beginner looking to grasp the basics or an experienced player aiming to refine your techniques. These sessions are open to everyone.
In these adult badminton coaching sessions, you’ll embark on a journey of improvement that covers all aspects of the game. From mastering the fundamental footwork and racket techniques to developing strategic thinking and court awareness, we’ve got you covered. 4 Week Social Basketball for Women at Coral Leisure Arklow
Date : Every Wednesday starting September 13th
Time: 6pm
Price:

This programme provides a non-competitive #JustPlay opportunity for women to engage with the sport and being physically active. The emphasis is on fun, socializing and moving in a safe environment. We welcome all those who do not currently play any form of competitive club basketball and would like to play.
4 Week Beginner Adult Squash Coaching at Coral Leisure Arklow
Date: Every Thursday starting the 21st September . Each session will last 30mins
Time: Two slots available, 6.30pm or 7pm (just book into one slot)
Price: €12 for 4 weeks
Target Audience: Adults aged 18+
Join us for a beginner Squash Coaching programme in Coral Leisure Arklow with coach Vincent Pippet to guide you through the fundamentals and help you develop a solid foundation in squash.
