Interested in making sport more inclusive? We’re seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to upskill through Vision Sport Ireland training and workshops.
Available opportunities:
🔹 Vision Sports Awareness Training (VSAT)
Learn how small, practical adaptations can make a big difference for participants with vision impairment.
⏱️ 2 hours | Online or in-person
Participants will learn,
- The different types of vision impairment and what they can mean in a sport/PA setting
- Basic sighted guide techniques to support safe and confident participation
- The importance of clear description and strong colour contrast when delivering sessions
- Examples of blind/vision impaired sports and adapted equipment that clubs and communities can use
- An overview of programmes and supports available through Vision Sports Ireland
Suitable for ages 16+ and ideal for LSP teams, clubs, coaches, volunteers, teachers and community groups.
🔹 Tandem Pilot Training Course
Build the skills and confidence to pilot a tandem bike for a person who is blind or vision impaired.
⏱️ 2-hour online theory + 3-hour in-person practical
Delivered in two mandatory sessions (a 2-hour online theory workshop and a 3-hour in-person practical workshop), it covers effective pilot–stoker communication, tandem handling skills and key safety considerations. Courses will be rolled out nationally adding to a National Register of Tandem Pilot Volunteers, increasing tandem cycling opportunities for people who are blind or vision impaired across Ireland.
This course caters for 6–12 participants
🔹 Guide Running Workshop
Train as a sighted guide to support people who are blind or vision impaired to run, train and compete safely.
