Join us for Her Outdoors Week in Wicklow from the 12th to the 18th of August, filled with exciting activities designed to connect you with nature and promote an active lifestyle. Enjoy scenic walks, social runs, and water-based adventures like surfing, SUP, and kayaking. Our event lineup also includes orienteering, a 3X3 social basketball tournament, and specialised fitness activities like Activator Poles walking.
A highlight of the week is the Her Outdoors Beach Festival at Greystones South Beach on Thursday, 15th August, from 5 PM to 8 PM. This vibrant event features a range of drop-in activities, including beach Volleyball, beach rugby 7s, beach tug of war, beach tennis and Olympic Handball, offering something for everyone to enjoy.
HER Outdoors Week aims to celebrate and encourage more females to get out and enjoy the benefits of being in the outdoors while bringing visibility to the opportunities for females to get involved in outdoor physical activity. This week is all about providing more opportunities for ALL females to escape to the outdoors and try something new. For such a tiny island, there are so many incredible outdoor activities on offer and this should be celebrated to the fullest!

This Introduction to Navigation activity will be based in Wicklow, meeting at the carpark above the Brockagh Resource Centre.
This event will start at 9.30am and will finish by approximately 3pm.
This activity is focused on introducing participants to navigation and is ideal for women who wish to gain confidence on the hills as navigators and to become more independent, thus increasing the ability to explore unfamiliar terrain and new locations. The instructor will cover basic map-reading and compass skills. No previous navigation experience is necessary.

About the event: All equipment is provided, if possible please bring a wetsuit, we have a small selection available to use if needed. If a wetsuit isn’t required then please wear clothes that are not cotton based as cotton can keep the body cold whilst on water. HER Outdoors Week returns once again from 12th – 18th August, and what a week it will be! The week is all about providing more opportunities for ALL females to escape to the outdoors and try something new.
This Mountain Environment Hike will be based in Wicklow, meeting at the Laragh Free carpark.
This event will start at 9.30am and will finish by approximately 3pm.
On this Mountain Environment Hike, you will ascend to the summit of Derrybawn, with views over Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains, and return back down through mountain trails and forest tracks. Throughout the hike, the group will slow down to notice nature around us, stopping to learn about flora, fauna, geology, and conservation efforts. The group will stop to talk about how the mountains in Wicklow formed and how landscapes change over time. There will be discussion on biodiversity, from past, to present and future, and what we can do to protect the fragile environments we walk and hike in.
This hike is led by Dr Anthea Lacchia, of Nature Tales & Trails. Anthea is a Mountain Leader with a PhD in geology (https://naturetalesandtrails.ie/).

An enjoyable 10km walk for beginners. The historic woods of Tomnafinnoge and the old railway track leading to the woods are exceptionally interesting to nature lovers. This walk takes in elements of the Tinahely Railway Walk. The views from many points along the route of the surrounding countryside are worth the effort of completing it.
