Get ready to saddle up and roll out because Bike Week is back! From Saturday 11th to Sunday 19th May, Wicklow Sports & Recreation Partnership is proud to announce the return of this national event. Bike Week promises to be bigger and better than ever, with an array of exciting activities planned throughout the county.
Sure to be a highlight of the week will be Blessington’s Bike Week Festival taking place on Saturday 18th May, in the car park of McGreals Primary Care Centre from 11am to 3pm. This festival promises to be an celebration of cycling, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Kicking off with a Funky Disco Yoga, it will be followed by outdoor spin sessions with HD Fitness, a balance bike course, and two Learn to Cycle taster sessions. Attendees can also look forward to face painters, street performers, and a pop-up Let’s Play event, ensuring non-stop entertainment throughout the day. But the true centrepiece of the festival will be Wicklow’s very own Street Velodrome, specially designed for children aged 8 to 14.
Prior to that, the week-long celebrations will kick off with a series of free Learn to Cycle taster sessions in Arklow, Rathdrum, Greystones, Baltinglass and Tinahely. These sessions aim to instil confidence in beginners and encourage more people to embrace the joys of cycling.
In a bid to make cycling accessible to all, free bike rentals will be available throughout the week from the Avon in Blessington.
Schedule of Events
Join us for “Pedal for your Medal,” a thrilling virtual cycling event in celebration of Bike Week! Hop on your bike and challenge yourself to complete a 25km cycle within the designated week of 11th to 19th May. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider, this event is open to all skill levels.
To participate, simply track your progress using a cycling app on your phone and capture a screenshot of your cycle log/map as evidence of completion. Then, email your screenshot along with your name and address to here by the latest evening time of Monday 20th May to confirm your achievement.
Saturday, May 11th
This pass gives you free bike rental for Saturday the 11th of May exclusively. Unfortunately, you cannot transfer to an alternative day as we have limited spaces per day.

Bikes must be returned by 3:30PM. Bookings are limited to two per person.
How It Works:

- Enjoy the Ride: Once you’ve booked your bike via Eventbrite, come on down to The Avon and pick up your wheels. Explore the Blessington Greenway and exciting trails at your own pace.
- Return and Refund: After completing your biking adventure, simply return the bike in good condition, and we’ll refund your €5 deposit promptly via Eventbrite. It’s that easy!

This Learn to Cycle class is for children who cannot cycle without stabilisers.
Our Learn to Cycle class is an exciting and engaging program designed to teach children the fundamentals of cycling in a safe and supportive environment. Aimed at children aged 5-12 years old, our class is perfect for beginners who are eager to hop on a bike and start pedalling.
Led by experienced instructors, our Learn to Cycle class focuses on building essential skills to help children become confident and proficient cyclists. The class starts with basic bike handling skills, including balance, steering, and stopping.
Parent/Carer must stay to support the child and learn skills for practice after the session.
Own bike and helmet are required. Helmets must be worn during the programme, so practice at home might be needed. Please remove all stabilisers from bikes.

Join us for an unforgettable adventure as we explore the Wicklow and Dublin Mountains on electric mountain bikes!
Starting from Biking.ie Ballinastoe Wood, our guides will lead you on an exhilarating tour through winding trails and challenging terrain. Our mountain E-bikes will help you scale to dizzy heights and revel in thrilling speeds on the downhill slopes.
Please note this is a moderate-intensity physical activity. You will pick up speed on the downhill descent and the terrain will be uneven/rocky.
