Looking to become a confident and effective Community Walking Leader? Look no further than the Community Walking Leader Training Workshop!
Taking place on Saturday 1st April from 10am-4pm at Stephen Hurley Fitness, this workshop is designed for people who take a leadership role in a walking group. Led by experienced walking leaders, the workshop will provide you with the tips and skills necessary to lead safe and enjoyable walking sessions and programmes in your school, club, or community.
The workshop will cover a range of key content, including physical activity guidelines and walking, the format of a session (WarmUP, Workout, WarmDOWN), group management (tactics for different abilities), programme planning, and safety issues (duty of care, screening, walking gear, insurance, etc).
Through a mix of indoor theory sessions and short outdoor practical elements, you will learn to become a confident and effective walking leader. To participate, be sure to wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for outdoor walking, and bring the following additional gear: mobile phone, waterproof jacket and hat, fluid and snack.
Notes will be provided to all participants post-training, so you can review and reinforce what you’ve learned.
